According to most texts the "voltic pile," or electric battery, was invented in 1800 by the Count Alassandro Volta (1745-1827).

Others suggest Michael Faraday first invented it in 1812. In 1802, Dr. William Cruickshank designed the first electric battery capable of mass production.

However, in 1936, Iranian excavation workers uncovered an ancient Electric Battery in a tomb that was built during the Parthian period, which ranged from 250 BCE to 250 CE (+/-).
